Watch Out For These Guys! |
The Spotted Lanternfly, an invasive pest, is causing issues in Massachusetts. The state's Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is working to inform residents on managing and exterminating this pest. The insects feed on over 100 plants, leaving a sticky residue known as 'honeydew'. The bugs have been found in over 50 cities and towns in Massachusetts, with a concentration in Hampden County. The Lanternfly is attracted to the Tree of Heaven plant. Residents are encouraged to report sightings to MDAR for tracking efforts. Eradication of the insect is unlikely, so efforts are focused on slowing its spread. Information and resources can be found on MDAR's dedicated web page for the Spotted Lanternfly. |

Ava - In foster |
Ava is a gentle, affectionate cat who loves nothing more than spending time with her favorite people. She’s friendly, playful, and enjoys quiet moments just as much as she enjoys a good game or exploring the house. One of her favorite pastimes is finding a sunny spot to stretch out and soak up the warmth. While Ava can be a bit nervous with new people at first, once she feels comfortable, her loving personality shines through and you'll find her on your lap and in your bed, purring away. If you have other pets, she’ll appreciate a slow introduction to help her settle in and feel at ease. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion who will fill your days with warmth—both in heart and in sunshine—Ava is ready to meet you. |
