This evocative postcard, dated circa 1910–1920, shows the Boston & Maine Railroad station in Greenfield, Massachusetts at the height of its importance. The handsome brick depot with its long covered platform is alive with passengers, horse-drawn carriages, and a steam locomotive waiting on the curved tracks. In the background, church steeples rise above the treetops, reminding us how close the station was to the heart of downtown. A timeless glimpse of the era when the railroad was Greenfield’s lifeline to Boston, New York, and beyond.
