Experience the Magic of the Springfield Pumpkin Stroll After Dark

Join Mayor Sarno for an Enchanting Evening at Forest Park's Aquatic Gardens

Springfield, MA – Immerse yourself in the autumnal charm of the Pumpkin Stroll After Dark, hosted by Mayor Domenic J. Sarno at the historic Aquatic Gardens in Forest Park. From October 29 to 31, between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, the gardens will be transformed into a luminous wonderland, celebrating the season's beauty and community spirit.

Stroll along the serene paths that wind through the century-old lily ponds, now illuminated by over 200 hand-carved pumpkins. These artistic creations are the result of a collaborative effort between the Springfield Elder Affairs Department and talented students from Central High School. Their dedication brings a unique and personal touch to the event, showcasing the creativity within our community.

As you meander through the glowing displays, enjoy complimentary cider and doughnuts under the harvest moon. The event offers free admission and parking, with a convenient shuttle service available from the parking area to the Aquatic Gardens. Guests are encouraged to enter through the Route 5 Gate for easy access.

This year's Pumpkin Stroll After Dark is particularly special, as it follows the recent $4 million renovation of the Walker Memorial Grandstand in Forest Park. Completed in June 2025, the project revitalized the 1946 field and grandstand, adding new amenities and enhancing accessibility. The grandstand now stands as a testament to the city's commitment to preserving and enhancing its cherished landmarks.

Mayor Sarno expressed his gratitude, stating, "I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Springfield Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management Executive Director Tom Ashe and his team for their tireless efforts on various projects throughout the city. I also want to acknowledge our wonderful seniors and Central High School students for providing over 200 hand-carved pumpkins for the Pumpkin Stroll After Dark. We have all experienced the winter holiday magic at our idyllic Forest Park with Bright Nights – now I am looking forward to seeing the park come alive with Halloween and harvest magic later this month!"
