East Longmeadow Police  Detective Sergeant Daniel Bruno Honored By A.S.I.S.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Bruno of the East Longmeadow Police Department was recently honored with the Law Enforcement Lifetime Achievement Award by the Western Massachusetts chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). This accolade recognizes his unwavering dedication and significant contributions to the community over his distinguished career.

 

 

The East Longmeadow Police Department has been proactive in enhancing transparency and accountability. In March 2025, the department equipped its officers with body-worn cameras, a move aimed at strengthening public trust and providing objective documentation of police-citizen interactions. Chief Mark Williams emphasized that these cameras are a best practice in modern policing, offering both officer protection and community reassurance.

 

Community engagement remains a cornerstone of the department's mission. The annual National Night Out event, held every August, fosters positive relationships between residents and law enforcement. The  event features local vendors, public safety demonstrations, and free food, drawing hundreds of attendees and showcasing the department's commitment to community involvement.

 

The department also plays a pivotal role in ensuring public safety during local events. For instance, during the construction of the new East Longmeadow High School, which began in the summer of 2024, officers have been instrumental in managing traffic and ensuring the safety of students and residents around the construction zones.

 

The East Longmeadow Police Department's dedication to service, transparency, and community engagement continues to set a high standard for law enforcement agencies. Detective Sergeant Bruno's recent recognition underscores the department's commitment to excellence and the profound impact of its officers on the community.
